The Bible encourages us all to pray to God and that God wants us to tell him everything, all the details and not to purposely leave anything out. He just listens. He doesn't speak...
I'm not going to ask why, but I'm under the suspicion it's really not God that wants to know, for God should already know. Hello! He is God after-all, knows all see's all.
God, a true narcissist what he truly wants to hear from you is; "I love you God and I worship you, my Lord over-myself."
We know, what he doesn't want to hear. He doesn't want to hear repeated, memorized prayers. Check out Matthew 6:7 He doesn't want a bunch of hypocrites, going to Church on Sundays, tithing to save their souls, pretending to be 'believers.' He would rather someone who goes into his bedroom alone and prays from the prying eyes of others, in private, on their own time.
Prayers from people that have broken his laws, he don't like. An example would be when God refused to listen to the Israelites who were guilty of murder. As in, Isaiah 1:15 "When you spread you hands out in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you, even if you offer many prayers. I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood."
That's what God said.
It begs the question, 'Does God Listen?' I was always under the impression if you confessed your sins before you die, and really mean it, then God would forgive you. I guess that law doesn't stand up anymore, if it were a law at all. First, you must be totally convinced that God really does exist. You have to have faith or he won't listen to you. It's that simple. James1:5,6 "Because he who doubts is like a wave in the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."
In this day and age, who in there right mind doesn't have doubts about the existence of God? It is said, Jesus prayed humbly and sincerely to his father. We are talking, father and son here. God wants his own son to pray humbly to him. I don't see why, after all he is God's son. What if Jesus decided to be an accountant, would God have disowned him? After all, Jesus could have had the world at his finger tips. All he had to do was ask his father, God for it. What happened to 'ask and ye shall receive?'
Now, because of Jesus's actions, we all have to pray humbly too! In God's eye's, if it's good enough for my son, it's good enough for you. Case closed.
Religion, it 'ain't gonna' change, so I guess there's going to be a lot of prayers, that are not going to be answered tonight!
Now HOPE, that's another story. Hope is a good alternative to praying as in...
...you hear older people praying all the time for a win at the casino or in the lottery. They should change their strategy and start to HOPE instead of praying because praying has got them nothing thus far.
God, a true narcissist! As you can tell, I'm not convinced.
